Lewis makes a winning suggestion at BOSS management seminar

Sep 9, 2011

Lewis Ndubane of BOSS Office Projects
BOSS staff member Lewis Ndubane had his colleagues rolling on the floor with laughter at his winning suggestion on how to motivate BOSS teams. It wasn’t so much the idea – which was excellent – that had them tickled pink, as the way he thought it should be implemented (sorry, we can’t share it!).

Lewis’s idea of taking full responsibility for on-site project installation was well received and won him a sweet prize at the company’s recent management seminar, held in-house in Wynberg, Johannesburg.

In total 22 BOSS management team members gathered to share ideas and review progress to date. During the seminar managing director Carrie-Anne Troxler shared some of the highlights BOSS has enjoyed over the past 10 years.

These included the reason she chose the name BOSS for the company and the meaning of the golden egg in the BOSS logo. The symbolism comes from the idea of protecting the goose that lays the golden egg. In other words, never misuse any opportunities, always “protect” the customer when BOSS wins a contract, and “protect” the customer with helpful, timeous service, and over-delivery if necessary, in order to build a loyal customer base. The gold of the egg symbolises BOSS’s opportunity to “shine” by growing and paying bonuses.

A group discussion at the staff meeting
Everyone recalled with nostalgia the excitement of the 2010 Fifa World Cup™ and the company’s march across Grayston Bridge to give Bafana Bafana a good send-off. On the basis of the Bafana Bafana support, everyone was happy to do the same for the Springboks on September 1 before they left for New Zealand to compete in the Rugby World Cup.

The next management seminar will take place in January 2012.
