“We look at a number of training areas: interpersonal issues such as communication and client liaison; life skills that encompass medical issues and HIV/Aids education; and health and safety regulations,” he says. “We also look at the motivation behind these.”
Training is carried out every two months on average, in addition to which health and safety manuals are always kept on site for reference purposes since the organisation falls within the ambit of the building and contractors regulatory body.
“Industry requirements are becoming more and more stringent, with some companies requiring pre-installation medical examinations for staff,” says Douglas.
“We have managed to get our training down to a fine art – for every skill we deploy, we offer relevant training. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and include training on aspects such as the correct way of packing sensitive IT and computer equipment,” he adds.
Douglas emphasises the importance of staff training and says BOSS takes this responsibility seriously because the level of staff competence reflects in the professionalism of the company.
