Our history
The BOSS (her story)
Carrie-Anne Troxler believes one of the great motivators is “being a single parent and suddenly finding yourself without a fixed income”. It was at such a moment in 2001 that Carrie-Anne shed her conservative skin and plunged into uncharted territory of entrepreneurship.
With her solid background in applying herself wholeheartedly to work (part-time from the age of 13), and banking and records management, plus her knack for remembering people’s names, and facts and figures, Carrie-Anne instinctively knew there was a good business in looking after other people’s documents with dedication. In keeping with her conviction that accurate records truly measure a company’s wealth, she conceived a golden egg as her company logo.
And so BOSS was born, where the only “boss” Carrie-Anne would serve again would be her customers.
However, in those early days she had the insight to add Office Projects to BOSS and create a springboard that would provide complete office services to commercial and government facilities.
Soon she needed the expert services of a financial wizard and brought on board her empowerment partner, chartered accountant Arvind Magan. Since then BOSS Office Projects has grown from strength to strength to embrace all aspects of document management and storage, including electronic file management, and reinventing the staid removals industry by creating a dynamic, professional relocation management discipline.
More recently, BOSS joined forces with Gregory Gomes to take over the licence to represent Wilkhahn seating and conferencing furniture in South Africa. Wilkhahn has supplied in excess of 300 000 robust but superbly designed and engineered office chairs to the Southern African market since the early 1980s.
Growth has also meant that BOSS has been on the move, from its humble start of 15㎡ in Rivonia, to two increasingly larger facilities in Wynberg. Today it consists of:
- A multi-tiered storage and office facility at 20, 5th Street, Wynberg, Sandton that offers more than 4 000㎥ storage space
- A chair assembly plant
- Distribution and storage facilities in Durban and Cape Town
- Servicing abilities throughout Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape
- Delivery facilities to any point in Southern Africa
- A prestigious Wilkhahn showroom at Fritz Hahne House in Houghton, Johannesburg
Growth at BOSS would have been impossible without the support of a dedicated team and, by nurturing talent in exceptional people, Carrie-Anne today has the backing of some of the most hard-working, knowledgeable individuals in the industry.
She is tough but fair and never asks a team member to do anything she would not do herself. Her motto is “success is not a dream but something we work hard for in every job we do”.
